Garden needs Tending

Luk has had a wonderful time growing his garden. He recently went back to his garden to get his vegetables. He grew salad leaves (I am drawing a blank on its' name. I know it was not Romaine.), and he brought them home. He also brought his more Collard Green home. We will be cooking them. Luk is not too happy about this, but we told him he picked that veggie, he has to try it.
He is such a big boy cutting his leaves.
Here is a shot of the whole garden. The tomato plants and carrots are coming right along.

The growing of the garden has been a wonderful experience for Luk. Recently, we were watching WALLE, as an afternoon treat. He was very interested in learning about how the people got bigger, why they needed the masks, the plant, and why the plant was needed to grow. So... WALLE became a learning day about outer space, oxygen, plant life, etc. It was a fun time.

The Gardens Must be Pruned...

The garden continues to grow, and with that comes Luk being a farmer. Here he is cutting the leaves from his vegetables. He is really learning the importance of how people grow food, eat it, and survive off the land. In the fall, he will be learning more about how the sun, rain, and oxygen help with the growth of plants.

PawPaw showing Luk how to do it. Cut at the base of the plant...

Now, Luk's turn all by myself.

He has all the leaves...

After some hard work, it's coloring time...

As the Garden Grows...

Luk's garden is looking great. His plants are growing strong, and he is so proud to have them getting taller.
Thumbs up... Awesomeness!
YAY! My garden is growing! Collard Greens, Cabbages, Carrots, Squash, Tomatoes
Proud Boy! Going to check out his Banana Peppers and Green Peppers.
I love how he handles his plants with care. He is truly a sweet boy. I can't wait to see his expression when he begins to see the actual vegetable; he is going to ecstatic!  More to come...

Gardening

Luk is gardening with Reson's parents, it is something that he really enjoys. They are growing some vegetables that I am hoping to make into baby food for Logan. This is really a great experience for Luk as he learns the ability to garden, see the life cycle of plants and what they offer us, and just spending time with his grandparents.
